Pedro and Rubina have been only a few months old when we found them. They were so thin, that we were afraid that they wouldn't make it. Pedro was very weak but seemed to protect Rubina. As we found them Rubina was trying to get some milk from Pedro out of hungry desperation. She couldn't eat the grains she has been given, because she still has been a baby with baby teeth. They were standing in stable, we would call a dark hole. As we led them out to the truck they had to blink, because of the sunlight they weren't used to. So the first thing we did was to give them infusions, so that their kidneys won't fail. There new home had a bed of straw on the ground. Pedro immediately lay down. it seemed like he didn't know if he was allowed to lie down. It took him a few days to realize that he doesn't have to be afraid for his or Rubina's sake anymore. While he started to relax and eating the appropiate food, we found out that his nose was broken, which made it hard for him to breathe properly - and his hip was broken a few times, but was never fixed. Now both are completely healthy and happy again. Rubina is a little stubborn and feisty girl, Pedro on the other hand is very calm and reliable. And they should stay together as long as they live.
